For my birthday, my friend Brenda gave me a journal, a very sweet, thoughtful gift. I am not very good at writing in journals - I did, in college, but since then I've struggled with keeping a paper journal. (Hence this lovely electronic one - it took, somehow). Somewhere - maybe it was when I was trying to answer that end of the year quiz and struggling to remember the best book I'd read - I decided to use my new journal for keeping a list of books I've read. I know many of you out there do this, and I always thought it was a little strange. But I figured that keeping a list would give a sense of accomplishment, to look back each month and see what I've read. That way, too, I could update my Goodreads once a month, instead of book-by-book, which I've never been interested in doing. I won't share every book I've read here (seventeen in late December through January!) but just a handful. I cannot claim to be a great book reviewer, but maybe I'll get better if I give you a little list every month.
