I'm having mercy on you, my trusty, faithful blog friends, and not sticking all of our Easter activities into one post. Because we don't want to be here all night. Because we have to go to bed early, right? And get up SUPER early for the Royal Wedding! I'm so excited. As a longtime Diana fan (I can't believe I haven't written about it, but I still get very sad that she's gone and I'll probably cry during the whole wedding tomorrow) I absolutely HAVE to watch William get married. And share my thoughts with Twitter.
Yet, last week we hit a milestone and it must be recorded. I've lamented for the past two years about Thomas' lack of interest in Easter Egg hunts. The first year I was traumatized and last year I was pretty chilled out about it. So, this year, we skipped all the big hunts in unfamiliar places (not on purpose, I'm not THAT mean) and focused on his school Easter Egg hunt and party.
Usually I guard my free time while Thomas is in playschool like a Secret Service agent on the lookout for possible assasins. This time, I wanted to be there to take pictures, and also, I like his teacher and the staff quite a lot. So last Wednesday morning, I skipped yoga and opted for egg hiding and party helping. Everything was running a little behind schedule, which is normal when it comes to dealing with little kids. I had fun hiding tons of eggs in plain sight. We tossed a bunch out in the grass and sat them on benches and one was sitting patiently on the swing.
I directed Thomas a wee bit, but he was happy to find the eggs and stick them in that dreadful camoflague basket. The school gave them baskets, you see. Please know I would not buy this basket/hat combo for my child in a million years. I would handweave him a basket before I bought this one.
Some kids are awesome at finding eggs, since they didn't spend their last two years jumping on trampolines like some kids we know. Little egg snatchers! The sad thing is that it didn't matter how many you found, later on the teachers went through the baskets and evenly distributed the egg booty.
So yes. Finally, the day has come. Thomas hunted Easter Eggs and liked it. I look back at the pictures, especially two years ago, and can't believe how little he was and that I even expected him to be interested in Easter eggs in the first place. First time mamas can be a little crazy with their expectations, it seems.
Now! Off to bed! Except I'm so excited I don't know how I'll sleep!

So cute in his SHORTS...we aren't anywhere near shorts here...I am glad he had a grand time hunting eggs! (Both for him and for you!) I agree, when kids are little we have these notions of our own childhood that we expect. But we forget that our memories don't really begin until age 3 or 4 or 5!
So glad that tornado wasn't near you. I hear "South" and think of Sam. Then I worry.
