So! What's this thing you call a blog?
I know I've fallen off the map lately, the map of blogs (this metaphor is getting twisted) you might say, but I thought I'd try the August Break (again) and see what happens. Funny how it's supposed to be a photo-heavy sort of break for most bloggers and it's way to find my way back in to mine. Oh dear blog, and readers, I do love you. It's just that a girl has way too many online outlets these days.
The picture above is some homemade preserves that my mom and sister-in-law made. My mom also brought SEVERAL jars of strawberry fig preserves to my house a weekend ago. I really need to make some biscuits to eat up all this good stuff.
Thomas has about a week and a half until he starts "real" school. Where he will be going doesn't really have grade levels per se but we're just calling it kindergarten for now. So I'm just spending this time with him and soaking it all up. He's done with his summer Mother's Morning Out and that means he's mine, all mine, until he starts school. Life is about to shift in a big way. And I thought his fifth birthday was unbelievable...
(That's his "I know I'm not supposed to do this" look.)
I'm also trying out the WFMAD challenge from the author Laurie Halse Anderson's blog. I fell in love with her books earlier in the summer and found her blog and the rest is history. I love her. The idea is to write 15 minutes a day. So I'm doing that, but in a journal-sort-of-way. I've been migrating over to paper-sort of writing lately. How does that happen? This blog is the longest journal I've ever kept, but I'm going with the flow.
Let's see what happens.
YAY! I have missed your words here SO MUCH! I haven't even clicked on that link up there yet I had to rush to write a comment to cheer you on! I have been writing more on paper too. I have always struggled with blogging, it is just hard for me. I was just telling one of my friends that I should try to post every day in August, but yesterday came and went. I could start today. Maybe. You might just be inspiring me! Welcome back!

Okay, I know this is kind of off topic, but I love that porcelain owl in the first picture of this blog post! It makes me smile. Now for the topic at hand—the WFMAD challenge seems really intriguing! I can't wait to hear more about how it goes for you. I know it's something that I should do—let's see if I can keep my goal and write every single day!
